Products with multiple variants — like size or color — need the deal bar to behave sensibly when a shopper picks a quantity. Drip Discounts includes a few per-deal settings that control how variants and prices are shown so the experience stays clean.
Let Customers Choose Different Variants for Each Item
The checkbox is labelled Let customers choose different variants for each item, and it is on by default on a new deal.
- Leave it on so shoppers can pick a different variant for each unit in the bundle — useful when someone wants three shirts in three sizes.
- Turn it off to keep the selection simple and tie every unit to the variant chosen on the product page.
this checkbox is disabled whenever Layout is set to Horizontal. If you enable variant choice on a Vertical deal and later switch the layout to Horizontal, the control greys out and customers lose the per-item variant pickers with no warning. If you need per-item variants, keep the deal Vertical.
Hide Theme Variant Picker
The checkbox is labelled Hide theme variant picker and is off by default. It only appears at all while the previous option is on.
- Turn it on to suppress your theme's own variant selector, so the deal bar is the only place a variant is chosen.
- This avoids the confusion of two competing variant pickers on the same page.
Use Product Compare-At Price
The checkbox is labelled Use product compare-at price and is off by default.
- Turn it on to base the struck-through "was" price in the deal bar on the product's compare-at price instead of its normal price.
- Products that have no compare-at price set in Shopify will show nothing struck through at all, so check your catalogue before enabling this store-wide.
Putting It Together
- For a multi-variant product, keep the layout Vertical and leave variant selection on so shoppers get exactly what they want at each quantity.
- Turn on Hide theme variant picker as well, so there is only one place to choose a variant.
- Turn on compare-at pricing only if your products actually carry compare-at prices.
Previewing
Save the deal, then open a product page with variants and one without. Confirm the variant picker behaves as expected, the correct prices show, and the compare-at price appears struck through where you expect it. Adjust until the display is clear on every product the deal covers.
