Personalizing Surveys With Tokens

A personal touch goes a long way. Drip Surveys lets you drop personalization tokens into your survey text so each shopper sees their own name or email woven into the wording. It's a simple way to make a checkout survey feel less like a form and more like a friendly ask.

Available tokens

  • %customer_name% — Replaced with the shopper's name (first and last name from the order's billing address).
  • %customer_email% — Replaced with the shopper's email address.
  • Where you can use tokens

Tokens work across your survey's text fields, including:

  • Question titles — for example, "Thanks %customer_name%! How did you hear about us?"
  • Form title — the heading at the top of the survey.
  • Button text — the label on the submit button.
  • Success message — the confirmation shown after a response.
  • Placeholders — the dropdown and text-area prompt text.
  • How to use them

  • Open the survey field you want to personalize.
  • Type the token exactly as shown, including the percent signs: %customer_name% or %customer_email%.
  • Save your configuration.
  • Place a test order to confirm the token is replaced with real customer details at checkout.
  • Good to know

    • Tokens are replaced live on the storefront when the survey renders, so each shopper sees their own details.
    • Spell the tokens exactly — a typo like %customer name% (with a space) won't be replaced.
    • If a customer's name or email isn't available, the token may render as empty text, so keep your wording graceful either way.
    • You can combine tokens with plain text and even use them alongside your existing survey styling.
A friendly, personalized greeting can lift your response rate — try adding the shopper's name to your form title.
