Generate questions with AI replaces your entire question list. It does not add to it. Every question you have written is removed and swapped for the generated set, and there is no confirmation prompt. Read the recovery note below before you click it on a survey you care about.
Generate a set of questions
- Open Drip Surveys in your Shopify admin and go to General settings.
- Click Generate questions with AI above the question list.
- Wait a moment while the app calls the generator.
- Your existing questions disappear and are replaced by the new set.
How to undo it
The replacement happens only in your browser until you save. Nothing is written to your store until you use the contextual save bar at the top of the page.
- If you did not want the replacement, click Discard in the save bar.
- Your previously saved questions are reloaded exactly as they were.
- If you have already clicked Save, the old questions are gone and cannot be recovered from inside the app. You will have to retype them.
before clicking the AI button on an established survey, copy your existing question titles and choices into a note somewhere. Discard only rescues you up until the moment you save.
What the AI produces
The generator always returns exactly three questions. The prompt asks for one question each from a fixed list of topics:
- Product-specific questions
- Overall shopping and user experience
- Shipping and delivery
- Customer satisfaction and support
- Purchase behaviour, such as how the shopper found your store
Each generated question comes with an answer type — dropdown, radio, checkbox or textarea. Multiple-choice questions arrive with ready-made options; textarea questions arrive with none, because free-text questions do not use choices.
Review and refine
- Edit any question title to match your voice.
- Change the answer type if you would prefer, for example radio instead of dropdown.
- Tweak the choices — add, remove or reword options.
- Delete the questions you do not want, keeping at least one.
- Add your own questions back alongside the generated ones.
- Click Save when you are happy.
Good to know
- Generating again replaces the set again, including any edits you made since the last generation.
- The generator does not look at your products, your store or your past responses. It writes generic post-purchase questions.
- Generated questions are a first draft. Always read them before saving and enabling the survey.
