If you decide to remove Drip Socials, this article explains how to uninstall it, what happens to your feeds, and how your data is treated afterward.
How to Uninstall
- In your Shopify admin, go to Settings → Apps and sales channels (or Apps).
- Find Drip Socials in your list of installed apps.
- Choose to remove or delete the app.
- Confirm the removal.
Uninstalling through Shopify revokes the app's access to your store.
What Happens to Your Feeds
Once uninstalled, Drip Socials can no longer serve feeds to your storefront. Any InstaPulse Feed blocks left in your theme will no longer load content and may appear empty. To keep your store tidy:
- Open your theme editor.
- Remove any InstaPulse Feed blocks you had placed.
- Save your changes.
Your Instagram Connection
Uninstalling stops Drip Socials from fetching any further content from Instagram. If you want to fully revoke the app's access to your Instagram account as well, you can do so from your Instagram/Meta account's connected apps settings.
What Happens to Your Data, and When
Uninstalling and erasure are two separate steps, and they happen at different times.
- When you uninstall, Shopify sends an uninstall notice. Drip Socials records it and notifies the team. Your store record, your feed blocks and your stored Instagram posts are all still there at this point.
- When Shopify sends the shop-redaction request — which Shopify does on its own schedule after an uninstall, not immediately — Drip Socials replaces your shop name with a random hash and clears the stored Shopify access token, the Instagram access token and its expiry date.
- A later cleanup job removes the feed blocks and stored images belonging to redacted stores, then deletes the store record.
Drip Socials also receives Shopify's customer data-request and customer-redaction notices. The app stores no customer data at all — only your Instagram posts and your feed settings — so these are recorded and require no action.
Reinstalling Later
reinstalling does not bring your feed blocks back. Once redaction and cleanup have run, your blocks and their identifiers are gone permanently. A reinstall is a fresh start: you reconnect Instagram, rebuild every feed block, and paste the new identifiers into your theme.
If you reinstall quickly, before redaction has run, your previous blocks may still be present. Do not rely on this.
