Reconnect or Refresh Your Instagram Connection

Your Instagram connection normally maintains itself, but there are times when reconnecting is the fastest way to restore your feed or force it to pull your very latest posts.

When You Should Reconnect

  • Your connection expired — Instagram access is granted with a token that renews automatically, but if a renewal fails, the connection can drop.
  • You changed your Instagram password or revoked access — this invalidates the existing connection.
  • You want the newest post now — reconnecting triggers an immediate content fetch instead of waiting for the next scheduled refresh.
  • Media permission was denied — reconnecting lets you approve the permissions you missed.

How to Reconnect

  • Open Drip Socials from your Shopify admin.
  • If a previous account is still linked, click Disconnect first for a clean start.
  • Click Connect Instagram.
  • Log in through Meta and approve all requested permissions.
  • Wait to be redirected back to Drip Socials.
  • What Reconnecting Does

As soon as you reconnect, Drip Socials:

  • Saves a fresh access token valid for about 60 days.
  • Immediately fetches your recent posts.
  • Refreshes your profile details — name, username, picture, and follower stats.
  • Your feed on the storefront will reflect the new content on its next load.

    If Reconnecting Doesn't Help

    • Make sure you're approving all permissions during the Meta login, especially media access.
    • Confirm you're connecting the intended Instagram account.
    • Check that your Instagram account is in good standing and not restricted.
