Validation Errors When Saving a Deal

Drip Discounts checks your deal before it saves, so a small misconfiguration can stop the save and show a validation message. These checks exist to keep your offers working correctly on the storefront. Here are the common ones and how to fix them.

Duplicate Deal Name

1. Every deal name must be unique within your store.
2. The message is Name should be unique. Rename the deal to something not already in use.

Overlapping Products or Collections

The message is "You have selected products or collections that overlaps with another Deal blocks."

This is the most confusing error the app produces, for two reasons. First, it is a hard block, not a warning — two deals can never cover the same product. Second, the error is always attached to the collections field even when your product selection caused it, so people go looking in the wrong place.

1. Two All-products deals always clash. Only one is allowed per store.
2. All products plus Specific collections always clashes.
3. All products plus Specific products clashes unless every product in the narrower deal is in the broad deal's exclusion list.
4. Two Specific-products deals clash on any shared product; two Specific-collections deals clash on any shared collection.

The fix is nearly always to exclude the overlapping products from the broader deal. See Choosing Where a Deal Applies.

Missing Tiers

1. A deal must have at least one quantity tier.
2. If saving fails, add a tier with a quantity and discount, then save again.

Missing Products or Collections

1. If visibility is Specific products, you must select at least one product.
2. If visibility is Specific collections, you must select at least one collection.
3. The message reads "You should choose at least 1 product" or "You should choose at least 1 collection". Add the required selection, then save.

Discount Value Out of Range

1. Every non-Default bar needs a discount value greater than zero. The field minimum is 1.
2. On a Discounted % bar the value is also capped at 100. The inline message reads Allowed value is between 1 and 100; the server message is Discount value should be less than 100%.

Specific Price Type Restrictions

The message is Specific discount type can only be used with single product, and it appears both inline under the Price dropdown and in the red banner.

1. The Specific price type is only valid for a deal targeting exactly one product.
2. It cannot be used when visibility is All products or Specific collections, or when more than one product is selected.
3. Either switch the bar to Discounted % or Discounted €, or narrow the deal to a single product.

Colour and Font Completeness

1. A deal must carry exactly 10 colour settings and exactly 4 font settings. These are set by the form, so this error normally only appears if something went wrong loading the editor.
2. Reload the deal editor and try again rather than hunting for a missing field.

Reading the Error

1. A failed save shows a red banner listing every problem found, with duplicates removed, plus inline errors on the fields the app can pinpoint.
2. Remember the overlap error is always pinned to the collections field regardless of its real cause.
3. Fix the flagged fields, then save again.
