Enabling the Checkout Survey

Building your survey is only half the job — you also need to switch it on so customers actually see it. Drip Surveys uses a single enable toggle to control whether your survey renders on the storefront, along with a couple of conditions that must be met.

Turn the survey on

  1. Open Drip Surveys in your Shopify admin.
  2. Go to General settings.
  3. Tick the Survey enabled checkbox in the Settings card.
  4. Click Save.

Survey enabled is off on a fresh install, so a newly installed app never shows a survey until you turn this on.

Once saved, Drip Surveys writes the enabled flag and your paid status into a shop metafield that the checkout extension reads. Nothing reaches the storefront until you save, so an unsaved change has no effect.

Conditions for the survey to show

Your survey appears to a shopper only when all of these are true:

  1. The app is enabled in Shopify. Step 1 of the in-app Setup guide links straight to Settings → Checkout in your Shopify admin, where the app (listed as OSOM Post Purchase Surveys) must be switched on. This is separate from the in-app checkbox and is easy to miss.
  2. The survey is enabled — the Survey enabled checkbox above is ticked and saved.
  3. Your store is on an active paid plan — the survey does not render for stores without an active subscription.
  4. At least one question exists. The app will not let you save a survey with none — it blocks with You must have at least one question.
  5. The shopper has not already responded for that order — unless Allow repeated submit is on.

Verify it's live

  1. Place a test order on your store.
  2. Open the thank-you page and confirm the survey appears.
  3. Submit an answer and check that your success message shows.

Good to know

  • If the survey isn't appearing, the most common reasons are that it's disabled, the app was never switched on in Shopify's Checkout settings, your store isn't on an active paid plan, or the order already has a response.
  • Unticking Survey enabled hides the survey without deleting your questions, settings or stored responses — handy if you want to pause collection.
  • Changes reach the storefront only when you save, so give it a moment to propagate before testing.
