Quick Start: Your First Survey

This guide takes you from a fresh install to a live survey on your checkout thank-you page. If you've already installed Drip Surveys, you can complete every step below in about ten minutes.

Build your survey

  • Open Drip Surveys from your Shopify admin.
  • Go to the questions section and click to add a new question.
  • Type your question title, for example "How did you hear about us?"
  • Choose an answer type — dropdown, radio, checkbox, or textarea.
  • For any type except textarea, add the answer choices customers can pick from.
  • Add more questions if you like, then save.
  • Prefer a head start? Use the AI question generator to create a set of ready-made questions you can edit.

    Style the survey

  • Set the form title shoppers see at the top of the survey.
  • Write the button text (for example, "Submit feedback").
  • Enter the success message shown after someone responds.
  • Adjust fonts, sizes, and the button style to match your brand.
  • Launch it

  • Make sure you're on an active paid plan — the survey only shows to shoppers when your store is subscribed.
  • Turn on the Enable survey toggle.
  • Save your configuration.
  • Test it

  • Place a test order on your store (or use a Shopify test order).
  • On the thank-you page, confirm your survey appears.
  • Submit a response and check that your success message displays.
  • Return to the Drip Surveys dashboard and confirm the response shows up in your responses list.
  • Good to know

    • By default, each order can submit one response, so re-testing the same order won't create duplicates unless you allow repeat submissions.
    • Responses also appear on the order status page in the customer account, giving shoppers a second chance to answer.
That's it — you've launched your first survey. Explore the other articles to fine-tune questions, notifications, and reporting.
