Quick Start: Your First Survey

This guide takes you from a fresh install to a live survey on your checkout thank-you page. If you've already installed Drip Surveys, you can complete every step below in about ten minutes.

Build your survey

1. Open Drip Surveys from your Shopify admin.
2. Go to the questions section and click to add a new question.
3. Type your question title, for example "How did you hear about us?"
4. Choose an answer type — dropdown, radio, checkbox, or textarea.
5. For any type except textarea, add the answer choices customers can pick from.
6. Add more questions if you like, then save.

Prefer a head start? Generate questions with AI creates three ready-made questions you can edit. Use it before you write anything of your own — it replaces your entire question list rather than adding to it.

Style the survey

1. Set the form title shoppers see at the top of the survey.
2. Write the button text (for example, "Submit feedback").
3. Enter the success message shown after someone responds.
4. Adjust fonts, sizes, and the button style to match your brand.

Launch it

1. In your Shopify admin, go to Settings → Checkout and switch on the app, listed there as OSOM Post Purchase Surveys. Step 1 of the in-app Setup guide links straight to this page.
2. Make sure you're on an active paid plan — the survey only shows to shoppers when your store is subscribed.
3. Back in Drip Surveys, tick Survey enabled in General settings. It is off on a fresh install.
4. Click Save.

Test it

1. Place a test order on your store (or use a Shopify test order).
2. On the thank-you page, confirm your survey appears.
3. Submit a response and check that your success message displays.
4. Return to the Drip Surveys dashboard and confirm the response shows up in your responses list.

Good to know

• By default, each order can submit one response, so re-testing the same order won't show the survey again unless you tick Allow repeated submit.
• The Responses page opens showing only the last 7 days, which is plenty while you're testing but worth remembering later.
