Per-Item vs Per-Volume Pricing

When you create a deal, Drip Discounts asks how you want prices shown to shoppers: per item or per volume. This choice doesn't change the discount amount — it changes how the savings are framed on the product page. The right framing can make the same offer feel far more appealing.

Per-Item Pricing

Per-item pricing shows the price of a single unit at each tier.

  • Select per item on the deal.
  • Shoppers see something like "$8.50 each" for a tier.
  • As they move up tiers, the per-unit price drops, making the "buy more, pay less per unit" logic obvious.
  • Per-item is great when the unit price is the number shoppers naturally compare — consumables, refills, or anything bought in repeat quantities.

    Per-Volume Pricing

Per-volume pricing shows the total price for the whole bundle at each tier.

  • Select per volume on the deal.
  • Shoppers see the full bundle total, like "$25.50 for 3."
  • This highlights the headline total they'll pay, which can feel like a package deal.
  • Per-volume works well for gift sets, kits, or products people buy as a single bundle rather than one at a time.

    Choosing Between Them

  • If your product is bought repeatedly and shoppers care about unit cost, lean per item.
  • If your product is bought as a set or bundle, lean per volume.
  • When in doubt, try one, watch your analytics, and switch if the numbers suggest it.
  • Changing It Later

You can edit the pricing option on any deal at any time. Save the deal after changing it, and the storefront display updates to match — no need to rebuild your tiers.
