Drip Discounts occasionally issues coupon codes that reduce the cost of your app subscription.
these codes discount what you pay Drip Apps for the app. They are not customer-facing storefront discounts. The savings your shoppers get come from your deals and tiers, and there is nothing in Drip Discounts that generates discount codes for customers.
Redeem a code
- Open Drip Discounts in your Shopify admin and go to the Plans page.
- Next to the "Choose your plan" heading, click Use discount code.
- Type your code into the Discount code field.
- Click Apply.
When a code is accepted the modal closes, the link is replaced by a green Discount activated badge, and both plan cards immediately redraw showing the reduced price.
What a coupon does
- A code carries a percentage value, for example 20 for 20% off.
- That percentage is sent to Shopify when you select a plan, so the recurring price Shopify asks you to approve is already reduced.
- It applies to the recurring price, so the reduction keeps applying for the life of that subscription.
apply the code before you select a plan. If you subscribe first, Shopify has already approved a charge at the full price.
One coupon per store, permanently
a store can only ever have one coupon. Once a code is attached, every further attempt is rejected with Discount coupon already applied, and there is no way to remove it or swap it for a better one from inside the app. If you have been given more than one code, apply the most valuable one.
When a code is refused
The modal shows a single inline message — Discount code is invalid — for every kind of failure. There are three possible reasons behind it:
- The code does not exist. Check for typos and stray spaces.
- The code has hit its usage limit. Every code has a cap on how many stores in total can redeem it. Once that number is reached, nobody else can use it.
- Your store already has a coupon applied (see above).
Because the message is the same in all three cases, if you are confident the code is typed correctly the next thing to check is whether a coupon is already attached — look for the Discount activated badge on the Plans page.
After applying
Pick your plan as normal. The discounted price appears on Shopify's approval screen before you confirm, and there is nothing else to do to claim the saving.
